My name is Shaghig Chaparian from Beirut, Lebanon. I will be graduating from Haigazian University and getting my Bachelors degree in Biology in few months. Additionally, I'm going to receive my Teaching Diploma. Therefore, I'm very interested in teaching science considering my scientific background.
I'm mainly concerned about teaching science differently. That is, not based on the traditional text-based instruction, instead, by respecting each student's learning style. In my opinion, the students' learning styles are best respected with the usage of the variety of media. On that basis, I try to integrate media in my lesson plans as efficiently as possible.
I value the four Standards of National Research Council equally and I'll try to include them in the learning objectives of my lesson plan as much as possible.
I highly value the development of the inquiry skills of my students and also the conceptual understanding of the subject by them. I tremendously work on integrating key ideas of Nature of Science to enhance the conceptual understanding.
